The idea of 6-18(?) months long trip around this continent sounds a bit scary at the moment. Or maybe ‘scary’ isn’t the right word, ‘exhausting’ is more like it.

I’ve mentioned it before, but when I got to Mexico I thought that RELAX would be the way to go. I don’t know why but that hasn’t been the case. One of the reasons might be that everyone else is taking it so easy. That’s why I feel like at least I need to do something. Who knows… The fact of the matter is that I’ve never been busier. Busy in this case means that my life has revolved around photography.

All this hectic lifestyle with photography has had it toll. I haven’t socialized as much as thought I would and I haven’t gone to as many parties as one would expect in Mexico. In many respect I’ve become quite a quiet nerd who social skills with other people are amusingly low. I don’t really care but it would be nice to be able to talk to people about something else than just how cold it is in Finland and where I have traveled in Mexico. :P

The truth is that I can’t help myself. At the moment I find photography, and everything that is related to it, much more interesting than small talking and getting drunk.

So after the school ends I might just rest for a while and charge my batteries and my brains full of stuff about photography. The thing is that my laptop is full of articles and e-books about photography and I’d really like to read at least some of them before heading to the unknown. Bad thing is that I feel like my photographic skills aren’t yet ready for a South American road trip. The good thing is that it’s not just the skills that count, it’s where you point the lens as well.

One thing is for sure. I’m not leaving this damn city behind until I’ve finished the manual of my new camera!

Streets of Guadalajara
This photo is for my black and white course. Sorry about the quality. It’s was suppose to be for documenting purpose only. I developed the photo today in the darkroom and had really strange feelings while working with it. You can’t see very well but the man’s eyes are open while sleeping. The thing is I’m not sure if he was breathing while I took this photo. All that came back to me when I was making this photo.
