There is a price for everything. One of the most difficult things is to value the ecosystem because it’s so diverse. Still calculations have been made to estimate how much some things would cost that nature does for “free”.

How much would you be willing to pay for someone to pollinate the flowers of your garden? 1 euro? 10 euros? 100 euros? The task is quite big when you think about sticking your finger from one flower to another. All this would of course provide new jobs but I think you see the problem. Purifying groundwater, watering the crops etc.. the list of things that nature does for us for free is endless.

The financial crisis is world wide problem as well but those kind of crises come and go every 10 to 50 years or so. This crisis began less than year ago and already the world has found trillions of euros to tackle that problem. The problem is money so it can be solved with money.

The first warning signs of global warning state back at least to the 80′s. The problem was that it had nothing to do with money. Only now that the global warming is threatening the circulation of money are people willing to do something about it. It doesn’t take trillions of dollars to save all the rain forests of our planet but still the money is nowhere to be found. I’m talking about the rain forests here in a very symbolic way since without them there is no fresh oxygen. One less Iraq war or a few less greedy CEO’s on this planet would have given us all the money, and especially the know-how, we need to save our ecosystem.

So pardon me if I don’t give a rats ass about the current financial crisis. It’s just insignificant.
