Hiking and biting

You might think that nothing is worth 100 bedbug bites around your body. You would be wrong. I went hiking with some friends for 5 days. I think I’ll write more about the trip later and post some more photos. Here are few of the photos for now.

Worth mentioning is that I’m starting to hate my computer and internet more and more every day. My interest for blogging isn’t at it’s peak at the moment, as some of you might have noticed. I’ve got tons of nice video clips I’d like to share but just don’t have the time and energy for that. I’m still taking lots of photos but the whole photography thing is starting to turn into to this love and hate relationship. I love taking photos, but I hate choosing and putting them online – especially when it’s not cold and dark outside. The purpose of all that energy spend infornt of computer is becoming a big question mark. In the future this blog might turn into a photography blog. It’s hard to find motivation to write about things when you know that words will never do justice for the places and people you meet along the way.

That’s enough of analyzing. I have to start making backup DVD’s of my photos. Soon it’s time to move on.

Finally the day has come when small percent of the people in Mexico decide who are the people who will make decisions for them. I was up to my ears of all the election advertising and noise pollution that could be seen and heard on the streets all over Mexico. Tomorrow the ads will be removed and world is once again a more beautiful place to live in.

Today I decided to go and take some photos of the elections but I guess I wasn’t thinking well ahead since of course I needed a permission to take photos of people voting. After several hours of walking pointlessly around the city I saw our university’s office building and on the outside entrance of it there was a voting place. I was wearing my, almost clean, white University shirt. That should give me a small change… I walked straight to the voting place, sat down to a corner and started waiting. After a while I lifted my camera right in front of the officials and started taking photos while still sitting. 10-15 minutes later I had about 60 photos and I decided to move to phase 2. I stood up and changed my position. After 4 shots a lady, that had seen me the whole time, came to ask if I had a permission to take photos. Of course I didn’t so I apologized and walked away.

After that I decided to go home and on the way took some more photos of people on the street. Nothing special but just playing around with camera and point of view and waiting for the right moment.

Juhannus alkoi ja koulu loppui

Ilmeisesti se kesä on nyt tullut, koska kaksi merkittävää tapahtumaa osui samalle viikonlopulle. Korkkasin juuri leijonan ja askin Panttereita, sillä jotkut kliseet ovat vain sen arvoisia. Kirjoittelen myöhemmin tiivistelmää opiskelusta ja muutenkin ajasta Guadalajarasta, mutta nyt taidan vain ottaa rennosti.

Juhannus siis tuli, mutta ei se vaan ulkomailla ole sama juttu. Kun on toisella puolella planeettaa niin tajuaa, ettei Juhannuksessa ole kyse kahdesta korista kaljaa ja pullosta viinaa ja siitä pystyykö ne tuhoamaan 2-3 päivän aikana. Juhannus on lyhyen ja kiireisen kesän ainut oikeasti vapaa viikonloppu, jolloin voi nauttia parhaitten kavereitten seurasta.

Pieni koti-ikävä meinaa yllättää, mutta onneksi Juhannus on joka vuosi, joten ehkä ensi vuonna koordinaatit osuvat kohdalleen ja voin nauttia Suomen suvesta. Jos satun olemaan jossain muualla niin joku saa luvan lähettää toisen pullon leijonaa tai ainakin askin Salmiakkia.

Näyttely sujui tosi hyvin ja kaikilla oli todella mukavaa. Ilta päättyi muutamaan kaljaan paikallisessa kantiinassa. Edellisen postauksen mutinoille en voi enää kuin hymyillä (laitetaan ne vaikka väsymyksen piikkiin), sillä viikosta jäi todella täydellinen fiilis. Paljon uusia kavereita ja uskoisin, että valokuvaustaidotkin otti aimo askeleen johonkin suuntaan. Löysin joitain juttuja joihin pitää kiinnittää tulevaisuudessa enemmän huomiota, mutta mitään isoja muutoksia melko graafiseen tyyliini on tuskin tulossa.

Suosittelen käymään kurssin sivuilla http://www.truthworkshopblog.org/ vielä katsomassa kuvia ja videoita. Sivuille tulee viikon aikana vielä varmasti lisää sisältöä, joten useampi visiitti ei varmasti ole pahitteeksi.
Organisaatio järjestää tulevaisuudessa lisää vastaavia kursseja ympäri maailmaa joten kandee käydä tsekkaamassa, joska joku osuisi lähelle sinua. Seuraava kohde heillä saattaa olla Ecuador ja jos olen lähettyvillä, niin varmasti menen.

Minulta näyttelyyn valittiin nämä kolme kuvaa. Laitan lisää kurssin kuvia nettiin kunhan ennätän. Nyt edessä on tiukka kahden viikon rypistys ennen kuin koulu loppuu. Sen jälkeen en tiedä mitä teen. Ehdotuksia otetaan vastaan.
