CAREER: an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person’s LIFE and with opportunities for progress. Origin mid 16th cent. (denoting a road or a racecourse) based on Latin carrus ‘wheeled vehicle’.

Did you know that the Mayans, not even during the Postclassic period (from the 10th to the early 16th century), never even knew about the our great invention called the wheeled vehicle? They knew how all the round planets and stars moved in the sky but ‘wheeled vehicle’ just wasn’t part of their life.
