Some photos from NYC

Two weeks past sooo fast. Money got lost from my pockets even faster. New York is a great city go and see. I liked it a lot but what I didn´t like that much was the rudeness of people there. The most friendly people were Falafel sellers from Middle East. Rest of the people serving you pretty much spit on your face. The first comment from the hostel receptionist 3a.m was “Your very late”. That about summons up New York attitude. All this didn’t really bother me that much. Travelers are almost always nice and friendly.

For those who decide to stay in Hostels of New York. Your food is not safe in the freezer. My stuff got stolen all the time. Never happened in Mexico but I guess travelers and tourists in NYC are so poor and corrupted that they have no problem eating your food. Stealers especially like healthy food since none of the macaroni and cheese of on roommates got stolen. Stealing travelers who want to stay fit is apparently the latest thing in NYC hostels.

Here are some of the photos of the trip. My version on NYC.

Nice photos, good to see you had a nice time.

This is kind of random, but I was wondering, is your friend Joey planning on hiking the Appalachian trail? From the photo it looks like his uncle is explaining the trail or something like that.

Speaking of the trail, I got to go hiking in White Mountains, NH, once, and man that place was gorgeous. We were on parts of the AMT I guess. I’ve also gone hiking in Maine many times, and it’s so beautiful in parts, it blows your mind. I’ve also known of people who’ve hiked the ENTIRE Appalachian trail, people from college. Not sure how long that took, but I guess at least several months. At least.

Great pool btw. If I had one, that’s all I’d do, lounge in the pool all day long.

Not happy to hear about the rude New Yorkers. I wish you’d been spared some of that. For what it’s worth, I can’t really say I can relate. Guess I’ve always been pretty lucky in that regard, in that New Yorkers have been exceedingly nice and helpful, and that’s part of the reason I love the city. But they’re tough cookies, many of them, and I guess from where I’m looking, if someone gives you a hard time, you just sort of roll with the punches and give back a little of the same. Get a little tough yourself. In a decent manner, that is.

Actually in that photo is of Joeys brother who just showed us the whole trail that he walked! It’s quite amazing. The trail is 3500km (2175 miles) and it took him 4 months. Can’t remember exactly but the average hike was something like 20km per day!

He had some quite amazing stories to tell. Skunks, bears, snakes, you name it. :)

There is similar hike in the west coast. Maybe next spring…

The rudeness in NY might not be so bothering for Europeans but when I compare the place to Mexico it’s just “in your face” all the time. No smiles, short answers etc. I was just so overwhelmed by the city that I left these unhappy souls to argue with other people. Their tough and I had no interest of starting to argue with them. It’s a waste of time in city like NY :)

Neljänneks vika uima-allas kuva on mahtava. Jotenkin modernin maalauksellinen kaikessa muovisuudessaan, ihkufeikkii.
